Flow from an Instagram comment to an automatic DM with a rising reach chart

Yes, comment-to-DM automation is allowed when it runs through Meta's official Instagram Messaging API. Your business or creator account can send one private reply to someone who commented, within 7 days of the comment. Tools that ask for your password or use unofficial methods put your account at risk of restrictions.

What the official API allows

Meta's Instagram Messaging API includes a feature called Private Replies. A business can send ONE private DM to a person who commented on its post or reel. The message must go out within 7 days of the comment; for Instagram Live, only while the broadcast is running.

If the person replies to that message, a normal conversation can continue: from then on you can message back and forth inside the standard 24-hour messaging window. So the flow is: a follower comments, your account sends one private reply, and if they answer, the chat opens up.

  • Account type: an Instagram professional account (Business or Creator) is required; personal accounts can't use it.
  • Connection: the account is linked through the official “log in with Instagram” flow, so your password is never shared.
  • Frequency: one private reply per comment, within 7 days.
  • Follow-ups: the 24-hour window applies after the person replies.

The first is platform policy: using Meta's documented method is a use Instagram explicitly supports. The second is legal duties: when you message people and collect their data you still need to follow rules such as GDPR or, in Türkiye, KVKK and electronic commercial message regulations. This is not legal advice; if your business is large, talk to a specialist.

In practice the key difference is that a comment-to-DM message is triggered by a person who asked you for something. Blasting random people with bulk messages (spam) breaks Meta's rules and good practice, and it endangers your account.

Methods that put your account at risk

  • Bots that ask for your password: handing login details to a third party exposes your account to takeover.
  • Tools that scrape screens or simulate a browser: these are unofficial methods and carry a risk of restrictions.
  • “Unlimited DMs” promises: the official API has rate limits and quotas; a tool that blows past them is either breaking the limits or not safe.
  • Bulk messages to people who never engaged: that is unsolicited messaging.

A safety checklist

  1. Confirm the tool uses Meta's official API; if it asks for your password, don't use it.
  2. Message only people who commented, and keep “one DM per person” on.
  3. Deliver value in the first message: a link, code or resource.
  4. Vary your public replies; don't repeat one sentence hundreds of times.
  5. Let the tool handle pacing; pick one that queues sends and keeps a safe tempo.
  6. Use clear, respectful language so people can easily stop receiving messages.

How LinkSosyal handles this

LinkSosyal uses Meta's official API for comment-to-DM. It never asks for your Instagram password; DMs are queued and sent under Meta's limits. The Free plan includes 1,000 auto-DMs a month; Creator includes 10,000, Pro 25,000 and Business 50,000. The interface and support are in Turkish.

FAQ

Can auto-DMs get my account banned?

We can't promise anything, but messages sent through the official API, to people who commented and within Meta's rules, are documented usage. The real risk is in tools that ask for your password or use unofficial methods.

Can I DM someone who didn't comment?

A private reply can only go to the person who made the comment. You can't use this method to message people who haven't commented.

Can I use a personal account?

No. You need a Business or Creator account. Switching is free and keeps your followers and posts.
